The Airline First Officer (second pilot) is the second-in-command of the aircraft, working under the Captain's guidance and direction. They co-pilot the aircraft and assume command if the Captain becomes incapacitated. First Officers must have thorough knowledge of pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight tasks and substantial experience flying an airliner. The CPPT program covers aviation skills in flight operations, inspections, theoretical flying knowledge, aviation codes, and hands-on flying skills.
