Certified Cardiovascular Perfusionist

Cardiovascular Perfusionists are important members of surgical and critical care teams that is entrusted with the responsibilities to continuously examine the equipment to control the speed of blood circulation, ones temperature, examine the oxygen levels and other gases present in the blood, blood clotting, status, the composition of the blood, blood products and medications when proceeded by the surgeon. Perfusionists manage extra corporeal oxygenation machines for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) when ones heart and lungs are not able to function properly. The CCP professional examination tests the students' theoretical knowledge and ability to handle critical situations in an Operation Theatre (OT) and ICU.
